Matthew Durthaler is a dual-degree MD/JD candidate at the Indiana University School of Medicine and the Indiana University McKinney School of Law. He obtained his BS and MS degrees from Purdue University where he studied biology and forensic science. He developed an interest in health equity and public health policy while serving as a deputy coroner in Indianapolis, Indiana. Matthew’s research focuses on preventative approaches to mitigate adverse healthcare outcomes in at-risk and understudied populations. He aims to use his medical training and legal knowledge to help promote evidence-based policies that support ethical advancements in healthcare delivery and biomedical research.
