Mackensey Alexander

Legal Intern

Mackensey Alexander is a JD candidate at Lewis and Clark Law School, working to end the use of animals in biomedical research. She holds an MSc in Bioethics from King’s College London, where her research focused on the ethics and scientific limitations of utilizing nonhuman primates to study uniquely human cognitive disorders. Mackensey is also an international guest lecturer at Hartpury University (UK), where she teaches how ethical frameworks like One health, speciesism, teleology, and the 3Rs, shape animal welfare practices in biomedical research and the equine industry. Mackensey aims to drive policy reform in animal research by redefining what “humane treatment” truly entails and exposing the institutional incentives within IACUCs that enable ongoing harm in accredited labs.
