Legal Intern

Johannah Anderson was a Legal Intern for Dr. Locke’s team. She is a law student at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, where she serves as President of the Veterans and Military Student Association and Treasurer of the Environmental Law Society. She is also the student vice chair of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS), appointed to the Animal Law Committee (ALC), and chair of the ALC Equine Subcommittee. Her legal interests include equine law and administrative regulation, with a focus on horseracing, rodeo, and show horse industries. She is also an advocate for service dog accessibility and the role of disability support in legal education and professional spaces.

Following graduation, Johannah plans to pursue a career in regulatory and policy law within the animal law sphere, with a focus on advancing animal safety and welfare. Her goal is to work at the intersection of science, ethics, and law, contributing to legal reforms, policy development, and rulemaking efforts that promote humane treatment, improve regulatory transparency, and ensure robust enforcement in sectors such as laboratory testing, agriculture, and equine sport.
